At the five-school Delaney Conference fall meet held in Manassas September 20, Wakefield’s boys cinched the title with strong performances by Stephen Butler, Dennis Shanta and Hank Sohn.
Butler, a senior, came in third with a time of 22:19. Just behind him was Wakefield freshman Dennis Shanta, finishing in 22:22. Senior Hank Sohn ran sixth with a time of 24:00.
In individual standings an Emmanuel School runner, Robbie DeLeo, came in first, clocking 20:31.
Wakefield’s win was based on team standing, which, with runners in third, fourth and sixth places, placed them ahead of the other competing schools.

elects officers

Officers elected in September by the Rappahannock 4-H Livestock Club will be installed in October.
Officers are: President Elizabeth Oliver, vice-president Susannah McNear, treasurer Toni Updike, secretary Alice Reeve, recreational i director Tyrone Starks, and reporters Gregory Williams and Michael Brown.
Even if we should be borne down again and again, the voice of humanity will arise from the dust and drive the money changers out of the temple and the traitors out of the land.
