Today’s society, with non-traditional opportunities available for -both men and women, has created changes in the way both sexes view their roles. With more wives working, most couples can no longer be viewed as breadwinner and homemaker, one of whom strives for success, the other concerned with basic survival.
However, there is a lack of models and skill-training for a successful contemporary marriage. Stress, the need for companionship and a personal upbringing for children are also among the issues frequently faced by marriage counselors.
Often, the couple has found that as they become busier and more successful, one of the first things to fall by the wayside is their time together. It is important for this time to be scheduled. Couples need time for themselves, time to talk. This becomes even harder, yet more important, when children enter the ^picture. - It is indeed a challenge for mar' riages to last, and especially to grow and become even better. Each person brings a unique personality and - a history based on family upbringing -and origin. They also bring along - personal preferences and prejudices.
