Sperryville
Christmas
Festival
Nov. 27-29
The Sperry ville Business CouncO announced that it will hold a Christmas celebration, “A Blue Ridge Christmas,” on Nov. 27, 28 and 29. Shops throughout the quaint Rappahannock County village, nestled at the •foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, will be decorated and provide special offerings for ^holiday shoppers. -- Cheri Woodard, spokesman for the business council, said that the group organized the •Celebration “as an enjoyable and low-key alternative to the wild crush and crunch of the "traditional post-Thanksgiving chopping sprees” which have Come to be a fixture of the first ^weekend after Thanksgiving.
“A Blue Ridge Christmas,” she said, will feature open •houses, shops with seasonal items and gifts at special prices, ‘ special gift ideas, door prizes, free refreshments, wreaths, "trees, greens, country Christmas '•decorations “and plenty of oldfashioned Christmas cheer.”
Sperryville, Ms. Woodard said, offers a diverse choice of "gifts, clothing, decorations and ' local specialties, “all reflecting the rich traditional heritage of Virginia’s Blue Ridge 'Mountains. You can get “everything you want in Sperryville and have a pleasant country adventure while selecting the right gifts.”
Shops throughout the town "and up Rt. 211 to the west of the "town will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. all three days, and most will feature special sales, •refreshments and other “open house” ideas. Most shops will be extending their business hours, if necessary, to accomodate the celebration’s schedule.
In addition to Sperryville’s celebration, there are a number of Christmas tree farms which will be open for business, offering both balled and cut trees of varying heights, for the entire "weekend.
