The Lights of Love tree at Culpeper Memorial Hospital will be lighted Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. during a ceremony on the west side of the hospital.
Originally planted by the Girl Scouts when the hospital was new, the tree has become a brilliant holiday fixture and can be admired from many angles during December.
Glowing with hundreds of red and white lights, the tree has many personal meanings. The red and white lights represent donations of $5 or more in memory of or in honor of friends or loved ones. Lights in the star of the tree represent gifts of $50 or more.
The gifts made to Lights of Love are used to benefit health care in the community in a way chosen by the Auxiliary. This year the Auxiliary recognized the need for a structural canopy to protect patients and guests from inclement weather.
