Sexual

battery

charged

A 24-year-old Manassas man is in custody after being charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery. Matthew H. Jeffries, 9415 Stonewall Rd., Manassas, is being held in the Rappahannock County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

The incident,-according to Capt. Ed Streapy of the Rappahannock County Sheriffs Department, occurred in August while Jeffries was a guest of some Rappahannock County residents. According to warrants filed by Capt. Streapy, Jeffries allegedly molested two juvenile girls who live at the home.

Although Jeffries allegedly threatened the girls if they told anyone about the incident, they told their mother the next day. She reported it to the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Department. As a result of Capt. Streapy’s investigation, Jeffries was charged with the attacks.

The case will be heard Dec. 10 in Rappahannock County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

(Editor’s note: Because of the sensitive nature of the alleged crimes, and the involvement of juveniles, the details of this case have not been published. Facts which might allow the names of the victims to become public knowledge will not be printed in the Rappahannock News.)
