To the editor:
I can’t help but comment on the suggestion by the Virginia Housing Study Commission to solve the housing problem in Virginia. They suggest that a state fupd be established to help localities and non-profit groups combat the housing problem of the working poor. Many of us in the housing industry are very familiar with the problem, and the cause.
The problem is that there is little or no low price housing available to low income groups. There is a severe shortage in Northern Virginia, and I imagine elsewhere. We’ve had many cases of families living in tents, and groups of workers living in campers. It’s a pathetic situation.
Taxpayers and public officials should be aware that the shortage is CAUSED by local, state and federal government taxation, over-regula
