Mary came together only alter his birth. (Matt. 1:25) By her own admission Mary was a virgin at the time of conception. (Luke 1:34) Also, the answer to David's messianic riddle in Psalm 110:1 is that the Messiah will be David's Lord and David's son all at once.
The early witnesses proclaimed Jesus as Lord. (Phil. 2:9-11) This is no mere status. In his life and death Jesus carried to completion his Father's wishes. In response, God raised him from the dead (Acts 13:30) and made him Lord and Messiah. (Acts 2:36) Part of the mystery of his person is that Jesus, who was with God before Creation (John 17:5) and who claimed equality with God (John 10:30), had to prove himself to be the one he claimed to be. Jesus was neither the ghost of God stalking the earth nor the overbearing superman. He was not merely like God nor merely like us. Jesus was fully human. Not only was God introduced into the human race; but the truly human came to our attention for the very first time. Jesus was the person we were all intended to be. Jesus was also the true reflection of the face of God. (Col 1:15) After all, we humans were created after God's image to begin with. (Gen. 1:27)
Today Jesus is at God's right hand (Acts 2:33) until the consummation of history as we know it. (Ps. 110:1) Meanwhile, having reconnected us to God, Jesus has given us the Spirit of God to lead us through life. (John 16:7) The disciples lost nothing at his departure. In fact, they gained everything. To this day anyone who believes can become his disciple. There is life for all who acknowledge the claims of Jesus. However, I possess more than factual data about this person. Through faith in Jesus as Christ (Messiah) I am given the life of God’s Spirit, having been baptized into God's family.
