Nutty burgers 3/4 cup boiling water 1/4 cup bulgar (cracked wheat) 1/3 cup whole natural almonds 1 lb. lean ground beef or ground turkey 1/4 cup chopped green onions 1 tsp. garlic salt 1 tsp. basil Pour water over bulgur; let stand until cool. Place almonds in single layer on baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until lightly toasted. Cool, then chop coarsely. Drain bulgur well. Combine with almonds, ground meat, green onions, garlic salt and basil. Mix well. Shape into 4 patties. Cook as desired. (NOTE: If ground turkey is used, make sure that burgers are cooked to the well done stage.) Mushroom-stuffed burgers 11/2 lbs. beef 1 cup thinly sliced mushrooms 1/4 cup thinly sliced green onion - 1/3 cup barbecue sauce Salt and pepper to taste. Cook mushrooms, onions and barbecue sauce over low heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cool. Divide ground beef into 8 equal portions and form into patties, 4 inches in diameter. Spoon an equal amount of mushroom sauce in center of 4 patties. Top with remaining patties. Press edges together securely to seal. Cook as desired. Chili chuck burgers
