The town’s Architectural Review Board (ARB) had a relatively easy time last Wednesday and dealt with three non-controversial applications with relative dispatch.
Mary Simmons had two applications before the board: one to add four windows to the Country Heritage building at the corner of Main and Piedmont streets; and the other to erect stairs at the front of the small log cabin on Main Street next to the Clopton House.
She told the board she wanted to add two windows to the north side of the building and two to the west side. She planned to install Thermopane windows and brought a drawing showing six over six pane windows.
Board member Ed Barton commented that at one time real estate taxes were based on the number of windows in the house, which is why some large houses have only a few windows, and they are small.
The ARB unanimously approved her application for the additional windows with the stipulation that the windows have individual lights
