Depressive desorders come in different forms, just as do other illnesses, such as heart disease. Three of the most premalent types of depressive disorders are major depression; dysthymia, a less severe type of depression; and manic-depressive illness.

“Depressive disorders make you feel exhausted, worthless, helpless, and hopeless.

Such negative thoughts and feelings make some people feel like giving up. The most important thing anyone can do for themselves or for others who experience these symptoms is to get appropriate diagnosis and treatment,” said Dr. Meyer.

Dr. Meyer is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Dallas. Having attended Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, he completed a four-year residency in psychiatry at Timberlawn Psychiatric Hospital in Dallas where he was chief resident.
