Shelter seeks
education funds
To the Editor:
The Rappahannock Animal Welfare League has a special request to address to the community. As the only shelter in the county, we rely largely on donations, memberships, and fundraisers to run the shelter effectively.
This past year the shelter enjoyed a very successful adoption rate. Of 219 dogs that came to the shelter, 162 were adopted either locally or through other rescue leagues, and 33 were reclaimed by owners.
We attribute this success to a hardworking group of our members, as well as, to our wonderful shelter manager, Mary Lou Walters.
Mary Lou gives 110 percent of her time and effort to care for the animals and to find them good homes. This is where our request comes in.
