Mr. McCarthy said Page County had also applied to the regional lan<U fill that serves Frederick and Claris counties as well as the city of Winchester. The supervisors asked that the letter agreeing to take “laundry sludge” say that Rappahannock County would prefer to be a seconds ary site and that the county would charge about $42 per ton. Th<5 agreement would stop if the county closes the landfill and works out an agreement with Fauquier County to take Rappahannock trash. Mr. McCarthy said he hoped to have such an agreement for the supervisors to review at the April meeting.
The supervisors learned that the county has been selected for a pesticide clean-up program to take place this summer. Scott Cunningham, the agriculture agent, said that many farmers have pesticides that were legal to use when they were purchased but are no longer legate Without this program there is no le£ gal way to dispose of those materb als, he said. He said farmers will b£ notified of the program and urged sign up. The materials will be collected at the farms, but farmers wifi have to sign up in advance.
When Mr. McCarthy presented the changes in by-laws proposed by the Library Board that call for cham ging from four-year to three-yea« terms, County Attorney Peter Lukfi said that state law requires foufcr year terms. The supervisors approved limiting Library Board merm bers to two four-year terms.
