Art Smith and Jennifer Alexander said they had seen fields where sludge had been applied and the$ felt it was very valuable. Mr. Smith1 said he saw one field that was full briars. With sludge it went from producing 29 bales of hay to produts ing 129 bales. Ms. Alexander saift the county has wells with nitratl* contamination from improper ferti* lizer applications. Since sludge is regulated, it is safer, she said. d
