RAA Begins

The Rappahannock Athletic Association (RAA) will be registering boys and girls for spring softball and baseball on Saturdays, starting this Saturday, Feb. 19 and continuing Feb. 26 and March 5 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Amissville Fire Hall and at the high school.

The final draft will take place March 12.

T-ball is open to children ages 5 to 7 (child must have turned 5 by Dec. 31,1993).

For baseball the age cutoff is August 1,1994.

Minors - ages 8 and 9; Majors • ages 10 to 12; Babe Ruth - ages 13 to 15; and Senior Babe Ruth - ages 16 to 18

Girls’ softball also has cutoff ages by August 1, 1994. There is a younger group for those ages 7 to 12 and an older group for those 13 to 15.

Birth certificates are required for first-time registrants. ,

The registration fee is $25. Reduced registration fees are available for additional family members. The fee for the second child is $20, for the third child the fee is $15.

Opening Day Ceremonies are tentatively set for April 23.

Spring Soccer

Thursday

Registration begins this week for spring soccer. Richard Price, Rappahannock Soccer League commissioner, announced that parents can register children from five to 14 years old at the Rappahannock Elementary School Thursday Feb. 17 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Those who cannot register at that time may register at Cabin Fever Books during store hours until Feb. 22.

Registration fees are $20 for one child in a family, $30 for two, and $35 for three or more.

Mr. Price said practices will begin the second week in March.
