Donald Delmorey, from the state Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, told growers about new worker protection standards scheduled to take effect April 15.
He said the language of the code is difficult to understand, but there are pamphlets and videos that make it clearer. He said the purpose is to eliminate or reduce pesticide exposure, to mitigate pesticide exposure if it happens, and to inform employees about pesticide hazards.
He said the new laws are too complicated for full enforcement by April 15, but EPA inspectors will be looking for “the intent to comply.”
