In its 4th year, the JCPenny Golden Rule Volunteer Awards will be presented to groups and individuals in Northern Virginia, who, through their volunteer work, play a vital role in improving the quality of life for others. The Northern Virginia Golden Rule Volunteer Awards, presented annually since 1990, have been expanded to include the Fredericksbug and Winchester area as well as Rappahannock County. !
This year, 10 top awards and 15 finalist awards will be presented. A $1,000 grant will be presented to each of the 10 winners (including two youth winners, and two education winners) for the non-profit organization associated with their efforts. Each winner will also receive a specially commissioned Waterford crystal sculpture which symbolizes the spirit of voluntarism. Fifteen finalists will receive a $250 grant for their organization and a certificate of recognition.
