Phase I of the Radio Operator Extension Training Course consisted of a comprehensive home study course, prepared by ETC Walter G. Green, Division C&E Officer.

Phase II involved four hours of classroom work and hands-on operation of VADF radios. Following the classroom work, candidates for qualification as a VADF radio operator completed a written examination, requiring a grade of 85 percent or higher to pass the course.

Instructors for Phase II were Bde. C&E Officer MAJ Robert L. Laine of Manassas and Commo Chief SSG Sterrett Carter of Alexandria.

Both instructors have had extensive experience with radio operation in their respective civilian occupations and shared their expertise and
