ing, and frosting. She doesn’t do braiding herself, but will have someone available to do that. “We do moms and dads and children,” she said. And that includes grooming of men’s beards and moustaches. She also does facial waxing of eyebrows and women’s moustaches, something she said that people usually have to travel a long way to have done.
Children are welcome to come in while their parent is having their hair done; there is room in the waiting room for plenty of people and she plans to get crayons and coloring books for the children.
She works alone, and has two shampoo bowls for customers, in a room decorated with posters of models with samples of hair styles. She said her shop is like a little meeting place.
The busiest days in the shop are Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The shop is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Staying open late on Thursdays was a good idea. “That has been terrific,” she said.
Ms. Hensley lives on the Shade Road with her son Tommy. She also has two grown children, David Calisto and Anita Ashby.
