E-911

From Page A-l

Rappahannock customers would not be delayed long waiting for WarTen County.

That is not the case with Bell Atlantic customers. The company has taken the position that they will not switch those with Culpeper phone numbers to the county’s system until Culpeper County is ready to switch.

For four weeks, from July 19 through August 9 the county purchased ads in the Rappahannock News urging Bell Atlantic customers with 937,.987, 547, 364, and 347 telephone exchanges to contact Bell Atlantic at (540) 899-2926 and give the company their new E-911 addresses. Besides saying they would not switch those with Culpeper numbers until Culpeper County’s E-911 system is ready to be turned on, the company also said they would not switch any Bell Atlantic customers on until 95 percent of them had contacted the company.
