The School Board opened bids for a new roof to go ' over the elementary school gym and cafeteria Tuesday night and learned there may not be enough money left over from the bonds for the elementary school addition to put on a sloped roof.
With about $7,000 still to be spent on the upgrade of the sewage lagoon, Superintendent David Gangel said he anticipates that $57,000 will remain for other improvements. The lowest bid for the sloped metal roof was $60,000.
In addition the board had hoped to install four lights in the high school student parking lot, which is used for night basketball games. The lowest bid for that work was $11,929.
Bids for the roof work ranged from $117,000 to $60,000 for the sloped metal roof. Bids for a roof similar to the one on the building now with tapered insulation ranged from $78,500 to $55,000, and bids for another flat roof' ranged from $49,950 to $71,900.
The board appointed members Bryant Lee, Ron Makela and John Tole to a committee to review the bids after references have been checked and make a decision.
