peting, these students were treated to a weekend in Virginia Beach. The participants, along with many other Carver-Piedmont students, raised the funds for the trip by selling candy last fall. They were chaperoned by 11 members of the school’s staff and administration, and several parent drove to Virginia Beach to watch the contests. It was worth the drive because all the Piedmont students who competed against their peers from technical schools from the entire Commonwealth placed in the top 10 within their individual contest areas.
Rappahannock winners were Tracey Thompson, 10th place, Welding: James Whitlatch, 8th place, Action Skills; and William Shanks, 8th place, Cuirent Events. William Shanks also worked as a delegate to elect another Piedmont student to the VICA State slate of officers.
Tyler.Haynes won the bronze medal along with the rest of his Firefighting team, while John Pearre was part of the Firefighting team that brought home the gold medal.
