Relay for Life is off to a great start with ten teams registered from Rappahannock. Teams have from eight to 12 members who raise money to fight cancer.
Teams from Rappahannock are: Amissville Baptist Walkateers, Gay Street Walkers, Huntly Hoofers, Rappahannock High School Bible Club, Rappahannock Community Walkers, Rappahannock Methodist Walkers, Ruby Cannon Memorial Team, Trinity Episcopal Church team, Wakefield Andadores, and The First Wood-Sperrys.
If you have not been contacted by one of the team members and want to make a tax deductible contribution, send a check payable to the American Cancer Society. Mail to the Attn, of Ester Settle, Team Recruitment CoChairman, RO. Box 39, Flint Hill, Va. 22627. These checks will be used to help team members reach their goal. You can specify which team you would like to support as well as which team member you would like to receive credit.
Rappahannock cancer patients and survivors have more services available than ever before. This includes Reach to Recovery, Survivors Self Help Group, Health Programs, Driving to Recovery, and The Look Good-Feel Good Program.
Statistics are that one out of three people will be diagnosed with cancer sometime in their lifetime. This means most of us will deal with cancer, if not ourselves, then in a family member. This is an opportunity to pay tribute to your loved ones and friends and fight the disease that claims so many lives.
Please come to Airlie Conference Center in Warrenton on May 31-June 1. Walk the relay course, join in the fun event activities, fellowship with family and friends, and celebrate life.
