Mr. Estes reported the cidery again discharged effluent into the sewer system on April 12. The pH was 14.2 when the plant limits call for 9.0, he reported. He said at Ms. Chabot’s request he went with her to visit the plant and he himself cut the switch off disconnecting the cidery from the sewer plant. As far as he knew it was still unconnected, he said. He said all the actions connected with the cidery had been recorded in a log book at the plant.
Clifford Miller told the Rappahannock News. Thursday afternoon that he had cooperated with the WSA and had installed two 5,000gallon tanks to collect discharge from the cidery and that only the toilets at the plant were connected to the sewer system. The discharge from the new tanks can be spread on the farm, he said. Mr. Estes said as far as he knows the discharge from the tanks was being trucked to Charlottesville.
