Wildlife Tips
In his library presentation, Mr Clark offered these tips:
• Don’t adopt baby birds that have fallen from their nests. Poke some drainage holes in a plastic margarine ’ tub, put some grass in it, stick it in a nearby tree or bush, and put the baby birds in the makeshift nest. The mother is likely to return to it.
• An apparently orphan fawn should be left alone, without humans nearby, for 12 hours to, see if the mother returns to it.
• Yes, there are cougars in the Appalachian Mountains these days. But they may originate from ones that were brought as pets from the West, rather than being indigenous Appalachian cougars.
