It has been a busy summer for both the Wilsons and Thistle Hill. Charles and Marianne with their son Chris and her mother, Leonora Willett, took a long awaited cruise to Alaska. Traveling on Holland American's two year old ship, Ryndam, they enjoyed magnificent scenery; glaciers and port visits to Ketchican, Juneau, Sitka and Valdez. Sitka is where the Wilson's obtain the wonderful Salmon, Halibut and Rockfish that appear on their dinner menu. A land trip took them to Anchorage and Fairbanks. The trip was by train with an overnight at Denali Park. At a dinner theater at their hotel, the Wilson's met Rich Follett, singer, songwriter and recording artist. Rich is from Strasburg and was appearing in the performance of "Alaska Cabin Nite," Plans are in the making for his appearance at Thistle Hill.
During their trip, Charles' brother Bill Wilson ran the Inn. He and his wife did another stint during a week in August while Charles, Marianne and Leonora Willett attended a reunion in Champlain, New York. They took the opportunity to visit friends and relatives along the way.
