Fauquier Hospital this summer
launched a series of lectures geared
toward educating women oh women's
issues.
"There was an initiative this year to get as many hospitals as possible across the country to participate in a series of lectures dealing with women and menopause and (Fauquier) Hospital decided to participate," said Michelle North, the hospital's community relations coordinator, in explaining the program's origins.
"That sort of got it all going. We wanted. to develop a series that would take women through the different stages and different things that are important to the female population," she said.
From the beginning, she said, the seminars were hugely popular. The first menopause seminar, held in June, drew 114 participants, she said. Because of difficulty in accommodating that many people, the hospital has limited admittance at seminars to 40.
"They’ve been extremely popular," she said. "It's really kind of interesting. We've hosted lectures here for years, but once we put it under the banner of women's health issues, it really made a difference."
