Children will be able to visit a doctor, play outside and receive tutoring at a single facility when Child Health Associates, Ltd. opens its new center in January.
The two-building facility, envisioned by Margaret Jeffries, a Warrenton doctor, is expected to occupy 9,800 square feet on West Shirley Highway in Warrenton. Child Health Associates will add doctors and medical services to its pediatric practice when it moves to the new site.
In addition, a new day care center and learning center will be established there.
"We are the first in Virginia to combine a pediatric clinic, a child care center and a learning center,” said Donald Honeycutt, vice president of Child Health Associates.
The facility, a $2 million project financed by Patriot National Bank, will give Child Health Associates IS exam rooms instead of its current seven. Three additional doctors are expected to join the practice.
Planning began on the project one year ago in response to the growth of the medial practice.
"We were outgrowing our space," Dr. Jeffries said. "It made perfect sense."
Combining child care and learning centers with the medical practice will fill a community need, Honeycutt and Dr. Jeffries agreed.
