Rappahannock girls swept a twoway cross country meet at Luray Monday, while the boys were almost as successful.
The girls finished first through fifth for a perfect score of 15. Meghan Fairbrother was first in a time of 23:47. Jessica Gheen was second in 25:52. Emily Sims, Caroline Baumgardner and Lauren Sharp finished third, fourth and fifth.
Rappahannock runners Robyn Kaye and Beth Yowell finshed sixth and seventh leaving Luray runners to start at eighth place. The girls won 15 to 50.
In the boys' competition Rappahannock runners finished second through sixth. Chris Sause ran second in a time of 20:34 behind Luray's best runner who had a time of 18:34.
Jeff Atkins was the second Rapp runner and third overall with a time of 20:51. Matt Wolfe, Chad Heddleston and Chris Dennis finished fourth through sixth. Panther runners Mark Williams and Caleb Proper finished seventh and eighth, pushing the other Luray runners back to ninth through ' 12th place for a score of 20 to 43 for Rappahannock.
