As Republican leader of the U.S. Senate, Bob Dole had the strong, unanimous support of every Democrat in the Senate. Why? Because they knew that they could trust him. His word was as good as a written contract.
Bob Dole needs and deserves the support of Rappahannock voters.
One way people can show their support is to attend the Dole-Kemp rally this Saturday, Sept. 28, in the Washington Fire Hall. Congressman Frank -Wolf will be there to address the accomplishments of the Republican Congress. Bring your camera and have your photo taken with Newt Gingrich.
We will begin at 3 p.m. with an all-you-can-eat BBQ chicken dinner. If you don’t want dinner, the rally program will begin around 3:45 p.m. All events other than the dinner are free.

Saluted
To the Editor:
The American Streetscape Society salutes Charles Eldred and the Town of Washington for the handsome new "radial-wave" street lights installed in town last month. These lights are modem and energyefficient, yet closely resemble the 1930s-era fixtures they replaced. Washington is only the second community in the nation to install these interesting new lights, after Kennebunk, Maine. Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, hopes to become third.
