An accident which took place on Route 231 early last Saturday afternoon sent Robert Allen West, 42, of Sperryville, to Culpeper Hospital.
According to State Trooper M.C. Woodard, Mr. West was travelling eastbound in a 1985 Chevy van on Route 231, four miles west of Route 522, when he ran off the road, struck a fence and pine trees. When Mr. West struck the board fence, the boards, splintered and several pieces broke through the windshield. One of the boards went through Mr. West's upper arm and came out the other side, said Trooper Woodard.
