Latin 4 class for the national Advanced Placement exam in March, a national Latin exam, and SAT achievement tests. His Greek 2 class also faces national exams in the near future.
With, all the emphasis on testing, McMahon says that his classes can be “short on the fun stuff. I would love to change that.” Among the projects being planned is a return trip to the Junior Classical League Convention in Richmond, following this year’s triumph.
McMahon is also the faculty sponsor for the budding Wakefield Key Club, a junior arm of the Kiwanis service organization. Though not yet officially sanctioned, the Wakefield Keys held a canned food drive at Christmas and donated crates of oranges to Rappahannock Social Services.
