Education of all the individuals
of our future generations of citizens is a worthy public goal to be supported by everyone and an appropriate endeavor for government. This goal ultimately promotes a stable community and society.
Public education assures that all individuals, regardless of personal assets, have access to quality education and hence an opportunity to be a meaningful part of community and society. This public education farthers the interests of property ownership and property owners as well as enhancing society as a whole.
Our public education system is funded by real estate taxes. This fact means that landowners with or without children pay for the public education system. The tax is not levied on a per child basis.
If tuition tax credits (as they are currently proposed) become a reality; i.e. people with school age children (not all landowners) will pay reduced real estate taxes [ostensibly to enable them to fund private education for their children (not all children)] it will sound the death knell for quality public education and ultimately defeat the laudable goal we
