and respect this beautiful land of Rappahannock County: If you read the letter “What Can Be Done” in last weeks paper you know that there is a large piece of property, almost 300 acres or more, on Route 618 and 619 in Castleton that is in the process of being clearcut. All of the large and medium size trees are being cut down and carried away.
With the soil loosened by the loss of vegetation, the erosion from the land will flow into the small streams and the Thornton River. Because the land is rolling, the process of run-off will be accelerated. Apparently, there is no protection in the law against this.
