James Phillips
Carpenter
James T. Mike Phillips, 73, of the J. Rachel Aylor Adult Home of Sperryville died on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Phillips was born in Abington, Va., to the late Coy C. and Roxie Anne Estes Phillips.
He was a retired, selfemployed carpenter, and served in the army for four years as a corporal in Europe and with the 88th Infantry.
Besides his parents, Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters Sanford I. Phillips, Floyd G. Phillips, Etta C. Galliher, Viola M. Phillips and Verla E. Hyler.
He is survived by a daughter, Lynda; two favorite nieces Janie Fox and Jeanie Swain, as well as other friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 25 at Hopewell Baptist Church in Sperryville with the Rev. A. Townes officiating. Burial followed in the Culpeper National Cemetery.
W.C. Thompson Funeral Home in Culpeper was in charge of the arrangements.
Cleve Dennis
County native
Cleve Delmar Dennis, a native of Rappahannock County, died suddenly on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at the Greater Southeast Hospital, Washington, D.C.
He was the son of the late William McKinley and Phyllis Ann Dennis of Washington. He was born on Nov. 4, 1946.
