The new show at the Middle Street gallery, which will run Jan. 30 through March 1, marks the first one-man show for Steve Kenny in what looks like the beginning of a long and successful series.
“Portraits and Effigies” includes paintings done as far back as 1990, all of them executed with the technical precision inherent in Kenny’s work. His most recent paintings burst forth with playful humor, and an optimistic embrace of nature and life.
Kenny and his wife, Donna, visited Rappahannock in the summers of 1995 and 1996, staying at Caledonia Farm Bed and Breakfast in Flint Hill and at Fountain Hall in Culpeper.
