By Jan LaValley Rappahannock News Staff Writer It was an exciting night for Rappahannock High School basketball fans last week as both the boys varsity and junior varsity teams beat Manassas Park. The varsity crushed Manassas Park 79/50 and were as much as 39 points ahead at times. Jason Baldwin, with 19 points, and Daniel Settle, with 21 points, led in scoring and the entire team did an outstanding job of rebounding and dominated the play during the evening. The Panthers led off with a fast and furious start and by the end of the first quarter, the score was 30/15. After that they never looked back. In the second quarter they widened their lead and with 1:32 left in the quarter the score was 46/19. Baldwin and Settle were consistently hitting three pointers and at the half the score was 51/21. With the start of the third quarter Ervin Phillips quickly made it 53/21. Baldwin and Phillips then managed to rack up two more — Baldwin a three-pointer and Phillips a two-pointer — and the score was 58/21. Baldwin then made a steal and drove down court for a lay up, but missed. However Michael Settle was right there to make the play count for Rappahannock and the score became 60/21. Rappahannock was fouled several times, made a couple of shots and at the end of the third quarter it was 67/30. B.J. Christian, Adam Starks and Jonathan Moore made the points for the Panthers during the fourth quarter. With 1:13 left Rappahannock led by 30 points, 78/48. Manassas Park managed

registration The Rappahannock Athletic Association will soon begin registration for baseball season. The schedule is as follows: Saturday, Feb. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Stuart Field, Ruritan Building. Saturday, Feb. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Stuart Field, Ruritan Building.
