Next month, on Oct. 17 and 18, in Rappahannock one of the outstanding events of the Piedmont’s glorious fall season takes place, the 42nd Annual House Tbur and Dried Flower Sale sponsored and organized by the Trinity Episcopal Church Women.
The multi-faceted event’s central feature is the opportunity to tour a number of the stately homes gracing the mountain slopes just west of the county seat. In their lovely garden settings, tour houses are reached through county by-ways lined in full, fall color. Chosen to provide a pleasing balance of architectural style, each house contains a wealth of decorative treasures with descriptions. The tour concludes with tea service in a picturesque country inn at the edge of town.
In the parish hall of Trinity Episcopal Church, where tour tickets are sold and the house tour originates, a wide selection of beautiful dried flower arrangements are displayed for purchase. Tickets are also available for a drawing for a queen-sized quilt, designed, pieced and appliqued — all by hand. Furthermore, this year, in the Quiet Place across from the church, Trinity’s Garden Guild will sell produce, perennials and other plants suitable for fall planting. And just
