The high-school graduation of a child is already one of the happiest days in a parent's life. How about winning a lotto jackpot on top of that? That's what happened to Thomas and Wanda Slaughter about five years ago.
"Everything just seemed to be going right that weekend," said Thomas, a 22-year veteran police officer. "Our son graduated from high school Saturday morning, and we were feeling really good.” Little did the Slaughters know that they were about to start feeling even better.
Both of their children were gone for the evening, so the Slaughters decided to go out for a bite to eat. On the way back, they stopped at the Speedway Center in Martinsville to buy a lottery ticket.
