NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING OF PROPOSED SALE/EXCHANGE OF REAL ESTATE OWNED BY THE

COUNTY OF RAPPAHANNOCK, VIRGINIA

Pursuant to §15.2-1800 and 1813 of the Code of Virginia, notice is given that on 5 October 1998 at 7:00 p.m. in the Rappahannock County Courthouse in Washington, Virginia, the Board of Supervisors shall hold a public hearing on a proposed sale/exchange of County owned real estate. In summary, the proposed transaction is as follows:

1. The County will transfer to William and Aleta Gadino a parcel of 4.0280 acres (this being a portion of a 25.1567 acre tract acquired by the County from the Armentrout family in November, 1997), and in exchange Gadino will convey to the County a parcel of equal size from their land contiguous to the County's land. This exchange will constitute a boundary adjustment which will have the effect of "squaring off" the tract owned by the County. The parcel conveyed to the County will be subject to a 50 foot set-back zone.

2. Gadino and Robert W. Armentrout will release the right-of-way they now have across the middle of the 25.1567 acre parcel owned by the County, and in exchange the County will grant them a right-of-way along the edge of the County's property, and will construct a gravel road on same.

3. The County will convey to Robert W. Armentrout, to merge with his adjoining property, a parcel of 0.9591 acres from the 25.1567 acre tract, for the price of $3836.40 ($4,000 per acre, which was the price paid by the County to acquire the property). This parcel shall be subject to a 50 foot right-of-way in favor of Gadino. This conveyance will also serve to “square off" the land retained by the County.

Plats showing the land involved as well as the rights-of-way and set-back are on file in the Office of the County Administrator. The land concerned is adjacent to Rt. 636 to the east of the Elementary School in Hampton District.
