Since Jones' good fortune, not much has changed in his life. He was a school teacher when he won the lottery and he remains in that profession. The only change is that he now teaches and coaches football at Virginia State University and he says he'd like to continue doing that for a long time. He did take a trip to Florida soon after he won and he bought a new car. He says his mom, who is retired from Philip Morris, didn't want a new house, so he helped her make some home improvements. Jones has also extended a helping hand to those outside his family. He has made donations to several places including VSU and a variety of churches.
