Board of Supervisors
The Board of Supervisors positions pays $1200 annually and is the lowest pay for any supervisors in the state— almost a point of pride with them, said John McCarthy, county administrator.
After Mike Massie announced last month that he will not seek re-election as Hampton District supervisor, Chris Bird and Bryant Lee both said they would run, however, only Lee had obtained his packet of information and forms by early this week.
Pete Estes (Piedmont District), Robert Anderson (Stonewall-Hawthorne) and Roger Welch (Wakefield) have all indicated that they have no reservations about running for re-election to the Board.
Ron Frazier (Jackson District) said that he probably would run.
School Board
“The school board is a much more powerful board since the Board of Supervisors lost its line item veto,” Hampton Supervisor Massie mentioned when he announced wouldn’t run for a fourth term.
School board members are paid $1200 annually.
Bryant Lee will not run again as Hampton District representative to the school board, working instead toward being a supervisor.
Except for Rosa Crocker (Wakefield), school board members said they will probably all be running. Incumbents are Ron Makela (Jackson), Aileen Johnson (Piedmont), and John Tole (StonewallHawthorne).
