The group formed in early 1998, when the developer of Clevenger’s Corner offered the U.S. Postal Service a free building lot to relocate the Amissville post office there, Lindquist said. “The post office is vital to Amissville’s future,” Lindquist said.
In two weeks time, he said, the group of 10 Amissville residents collected 450 signatures and held a heavily attended meeting. Attending were two U.S. Postal Service representatives and a representative from Rep. Frank Wolfs office.
