Tieckelmann says that he has been heavily influenced by Bernard Maybeck (1862-1957), who was perhaps the dean of that school of design.
Maybeck is known as a “radical romantic” architect who had a fondness for natural Woods and handwrought materials.
Tieckelmann appears to be following the Maybeck approach: his design specifies wood-to-wood connections, hand-milled joints and Gothic-toned interior details.
A new dream
Looking at Tieckelmann’s plans and his progress, one is moved to consider the journey that brought him to undertake this adventure. The task before him is enormous.
