The premier big band jazz ensemble of the United States Air Force, the Airmen of Note, will present a free live concert for the public at RandolphMacon Academy in Front Royal on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m.
. Created in 1950 to carry on the tradition of Glenn Miller’s Aj-my Air Corps dance band, the Airmen of Note adopted a more contemporary style uhder the direction of the legendary Sammy Nestico in the mid 50’s. They have worked with some of the nation’s most celebrated composers and musicians, including Henry IVfancini, Nancy Wilson and Lou Rawls. Count Basie said of the band, “It doesn’t matter what kind of bag you put them in Jazz or dance, the Airmen of Note always come out swinging. This is one band you won’t wdnt to miss.” ! Music fans are invited to enjoy the performance of this repowned ensemble on Feb. 27 at • Randolph-Macon Academy in! Front Royal.
