Joann and Frank Berta of Castleton have given birth to an enterprise, “Berta Babies,” that may help them to x ealize their dreams.
Just two years ago, Joann was working full time as the head of health and beauty care at Shopper’s Food Warehouse. But her hours and long commute prevented her from spending enough time with their seven children and grandchild.
Husband Frank had been working with AT&T as a communications specialist for 26 years and would be eligible for retirement in four years.
They knew they wanted to start their own business.
Visiting a flea market, Joann and Frank saw the popular “Time Out Babies,” and thought they could improve on that model and manufacture them.
The result: 18 months after they started, the Bertas have sold 3600 units, and will aver
