NOTICE OF INTENTION TO ADJUST

BOUNDARY BETWEEN TOWN OF WASHINGTON & COUNTY OF RAPPAHANNOCK

Notice is hereby given in accordance with §15.2-3107 of the Code of Virginia, 1950 (as amended) that the Town Council of Washington, Virginia, and the Board of Supervisors of the County of Rappahannock shall hold a joint Public Hearing at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 1, 1999 at the Courthouse in Washington, Virginia, to consider adoption of an Agreement to adjust the boundary between the two jurisdictions.

The proposed Agreement was the subject of a resolution adopted by both bodies at a joint public hearing held on Wednesday, February 10, 1999. The agreement proposes the adjustment of the Town-County boundary as it applies to three separate parcels, Tax Map 20A-1, Parcels 5, 6 & 6A, located on the north end of the Town of Washington, and owned by Smoot, Goebel & Sullivan, and Batchelder, respectively. Each parcel, by the proposed Agreement, would be brought wholly within the new boundaries of the Town of Washington. The total area affected is approximately one and one-half acres, or less. Any Agreement adopted by both jurisdictions must be submitted to the Circuit Court of Rappahannock County for final approval.

Both public bodies will also consider for submission to the Circuit Court the boundary adjustment previously approved by them at their joint meeting on August 5, 1991, at which time they approved a boundary adjustment which would bring entirely within the Town the land known as Tax Map 20A-1, Parcels 21D and 21E, these being Lots 3 and 4 of the LOMP Subdivision as shown at Plat Cabinet A, page 76. See also Deed Book 179, page 83.

A complete description of each property is available for inspection, along with the text of the proposed Agreement, during normal business hours at the County Administration Office, 290 Gay Street, the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Rappahannock County, Gay Street, Washington, VA, and at the Town Hall, Gay Street, Washington, VA.
