well as a member and the President of the Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company. He stays busy there also, helping out with Bingo as well as chairing the Carnival and Dance Committees.
Atkins has a few objectives he would like to accomplish as Supervisor.
• He would like Rappahannock to remain an open space county. However, he believes that some “minor adjustments” are needed in county ordinances “to allow our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to remain in the county and be able to build a home.” Atkins would also like to see growth in the existing communities.
• Another goal for Atkins is to lure some environmentally clean industries into the county. He acknowledges that some incentives may be necessary, such as a tax free setting for a few years if such an industry would employ county citizens.
