Congratulations Rappahannock! The 1999 Rappahannock
Relay-For-Life was a success beyond anyone’s expectations. The total figure $61,077.40 is just amazing for a county with a population of 7100.
With so many undesirable situations going on in the world today it is refreshing to know that a tiny county tucked at the foot of the Blue Ridge still has a caring and sharing spirit. Once again Rappahannock you have come through in a big way:
I have so many people to thank that the names would fill this entire newspaper, so I will mention the Event sponsors and the committee, but we thank everyone involved.
Maybe you captained a team, were on a team, donated money or helped with the event. It took every single person to make this a special and successful event.

Last year we had 21 teams and raised nearly $25,000. This year 47 teams registered. Out of the 47 teams 27 reached or exceeded their goal. The third place team which raised $3,121 was Carolyn’s Love, Laugh and Live Team #1; Second place Bennie Lee Atkins team which raised $4,280. The top team was Brady Bunch ‘99 which raised $4,615.
Ellen Joback was the top fundraiser. Good job Ellen!
