Several Sperryville businesses are preparing for special sales, etc. for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, May 29-31.
Faith Mountain will celebrate its 22nd anniversary this upcoming weekend. There will be lots of bargains inside and out. The sale will be May 28-31 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The tent closes at 4 p.m. on Monday.
In the village, the Old Sperryville Bookshop will host Sperryville Civil War Days, a two-day (Saturday and Sunday) event featuring talks by Civil War authors, music of the 1860’s war years and discussions by local authorities on how the war touched Rappahannock. You won’t want to miss this event!
Former resident Danny Hitt will be on hand Sunday, May 30 to sign his recently released book, “The Battle Mountain Affair” at the Old Sperryville Bookshop.
Many other stores will be having special events and sales. We encourage you to take time to visit these local shops.
Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Atkins of Acronbrook Lane entertained with a birthday party on Sunday in honor of their daughter, Angela.
In addition to husband Josh and son, Nicholas others helping . her celebrate were Mrs. Betty Myers of Lignum, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Atkins of Washington, Mrs. Brenda Sacco of Luray, Mrs. Allen Tuel and Mandy of Culpeper, Mr. and Mrs. Kinsey Wharton of Woodville, Mrs. Marie Atkins, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Gore and daughter, Heather and Shelby Atkins, all local.
The Sperryville United Methodist Church will have worship service at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 30. Rev. Merlin Shorb, pastor invites the public to attend.
Residents are reminded of the upcoming carnival which will be held June 2-5 at the Sperryville Fire Department grounds.
The Sperryville Fire Department needs volunteers to help with the cook shack and provide baked goods for their upcoming carnival. Anyone that could donate baked goods to help with the four night event would be greatly appreciated.
