After the instruction, the students had to take a written exam. Upon successful completion of the exam, the students received their certification and a CPR microshield. The school paid for the books, while the Headwaters grant paid for the instructors and the microshields.

On May 24, these students spent the day at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, DC.
Mrs. Waddell, who is CPR certified and an EMT, said that there are only about .120 or 125 residents in the county who are CPR certified. She hopes that programs like this will encourage more students to volunteer.
